The Candle The candle ceremony, held nightly, is an integral part of the camps, giving participants a chance to acknowledge and affirm people who have helped them to enjoy their day. The inner light that sparks those on camp to positive actions flows out into their lives and lights up others, as does the light of this image. |

The Open Heart Edmund’s love for those in his care, especially young people, is translated for us in this symbol, a mark of his unconditional love for others, which we strive to imitate on our camps and in our lives. |

The Hand and Spiral The hand represents all those who offer themselves to help make the camps a reality, and the spiral symbolises their efforts spreading outward as the Edmund Rice Camps movement grows and touches the lives of more young people. |

The Window The window previews a vision of the future, with the sun rising on a new dawn. The window is set in a traditional stone building, representing strength, longevity and solid foundations. |

The Celtic Cross Central to the five images is a cross, the Christian symbol of Christ. The Cross reminds us that Jesus was at the centre of Edmund’s life, and is Celtic reflecting Edmund’s Irish heritage. |
